Sonia Haft Greene Lovecraft Davis (1883–1972) was a businesswoman of the early twentieth century, working within the millinery trade. She is often remembered for her brief marriage to the writer Howard Phillips Lovecraft, though such an association does not encompass the full measure of her life and work. A participant in the world of amateur journalism, she moved within a network of writers and thinkers, leaving behind letters and writings that reflect a life of intelligence, artistic sensibility, and presence.
Although Two Hearts That Beat as One marks her first scholarly publication, Monica Wasserman has been a writer since childhood. A collector of rare literary works and an admirer of classical works of art, she is drawn to antiquities and the histories they carry. In October 2022, she established The Papers of Sonia H. Davis in response to the need for sustained research on Sonia. Her work is concerned with the recovery and preservation of Sonia H. Davis’s life and writings, with particular attention to her archival and literary legacy. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, and applies her work with the intention to educate, encourage, and guide others toward a sense of purpose.
